Dementia-friendly screenings supported by St John's House

St John's House is collaborating with Cinema City Norwich to support their monthly Dementia-friendly screenings.

Dementia Friendly Screenings are screenings are open to all but specially adapted to enable people living with Dementia to enjoy a trip to the cinema. The films are specially programmed and include older classics and musicals. Sound levels are turned down if it is a loud soundtrack, the lights are left on at a low level and there are no trailers or adverts at the beginning of the film.

There is a short interval about halfway through the film and audience members are welcome to take a break from the screen, talk to their friends and move around as needed.

Ahead of the screenings, free tea/coffee and biscuits are served to give audience members a chance to socialise and familiarise themselves with the building. Some of the team from St John's House, who support people living with dementia, will be on hand to meet people, help with questions about dementia and how they support people at the home as well as having some fun with singalongs and activities.

The screenings run on the last Friday of the month, with the next screening on Friday 30th September,

Tickets are £4 per person, with free tickets for accompanying carers and can be booked here:
